Michael

As a pastor, we moved to a Quarterly Team Night, for a church that worships around 80 per Sunday. We now spend 1 night per quarter looking at "the next 3-6 months" of ministry. That night our "slimmed down" teams (now only 6 teams, which was 16 committees) meet simultaneously, for discernment about our mission and ministry. This frees up our council to discuss goals and direction at our council meetings, rather than how to fix the water fountain in the fellowship hall : ) This model also allows the teams to take ownership of the ministries, because the pastor cannot be in all 6 meetings simultaneously.

Love the idea of quarterly strategic reviews and spreading the responsibility for that so broadly. Says a lot about you as a leader, Michael. Thanks for sharing.
