Yeah, I'd say the masthead thing was a clear indicator that his time at Time would be short. It showed that his focus was on the wrong thing from the "get go." Not a way to endear yourself to the folks already there who'd been doing the hard work for years, most without their name in "lights." Another great post, Scott!
